Public Ownership For Railways Protest

Join our national day of action to protest against rising fares! With support from Action for Rail, the People’s Assembly are teaming up with Bring Back British Rail, Compass, the Green Party, the Campaign against Climate Change, We Own It, and a variety of local groups to organise protests at railways stations all over Britain on Monday 5 January 2015.
Caroline Lucas MP will be supporting the protest at Brighton station (6.30 – 9.30am) and the Green Party leader Natalie Bennett will be at the London’s Kings Cross station protest (7.30 – 9.30am), where ITV’s Good Morning Britain and other media will be reporting on the action.

Some parts of the rail systems are nationalised but they need to stamp out on bureaucracy.

Renationalised is a term for it. Democratised is a term I prefer. That is the railways are run by the Govt with a Minister accountable Parliament and voters able to deliver a verdict if they so choose at elections
Renationalise everything......you know.....like when it all worked! Utilities, water, nhs, post office, schools, colleges.......everything!
It's a no brainer really, pay money back to the Exchequer or pay dividends to shareholders. I know which I'd rather see!

I don't think we did it. I think the fact that there's a general election coming up in the next year did it.
The next question is; since the Government said that they won't put more money into the subsidies, what is the next thing that the Train Operating Companies (TOC's) will try to cut to keep up the dividend payouts?

We need to demand it from the Labour party as a manifesto pledge because the Tories aren't listening.

It's a management contract which means it doesn't matter how bad they are they will still get paid their fee and they will be protected from any loses due to industrial action or even another pandemic ( don't forget the current government likes to remind us all that every household paid £1400 to prop up those naughty striking rail workers)
I wonder how much do we expect from it if it would be nationalised.
