Neil Blumfield, LincolnI use the East Coast line. Under the DOR, it gave a glimpse of what a re-nationalised service can do. With Virgin in control prices have rocketed. Privatisation doesn’t work.
Maciej Krzymieniecki, BarryIt’s a joke how much the trains cost. In the era of productivity being bigger than ever, the state could afford public transport to be really cheap.
Richard Walker, Newcastle-upon-TyneSince privatisation the prices of rail fares have increased well beyond inflation with no justification.
Caroline Dumonteil, LondonEvidence shows that the privatised rail system here is not serving the public interest. It costs far more, is inefficient and deeply disliked by most people in the UK.
Ben Eldridge, EpsomWhat a ridiculous system we have for running our railways. It’s time for the railways to be taken back into public ownership.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
