British rail is the way forward so as to eliminate the robbery of tax payers’ funds going to parasite companies.
When I was a child in the 1950s, I frequently travelled by train, Brighton – London return, a one-hour journey on reliably-timetabled trains. 60 years later – nightmare.
I think all the industries that were privatised should be re-nationalised.
I lived in SE London for a long and happy time and used BR quite a lot on the way into town. Never was I late or felt unsafe. Privatising is a huge mistake. British Rail forever.
East Coast service shows that public ownership works best for passengers and for government.

Privatizing has buggered up the electricity industry, the gas industry, the water industry and the waste disposal industry too. Some things should be considered a service and run to provide just that at an economic cost not a way of milking the end users.
