Maggie Pearse, BradfordIt should never have been de-nationalised. The private profit made from the public and the public purse is absolutely scandalous.
Andrew Riseborough, GillinghamBring back British Rail for the good of the country and the fare-paying public.
Joanne Cummins, LondonTravel is a necessity, a public service. No one should expect to make money out of it, and those who do should not be permitted to be in charge of it.
Hugh Butcher, TadcasterI travel the rails a lot. East Coast mainline is by far the best in terms of service, ticket price, and customer care. It is owned by us and makes a surplus for us.
Adam Tong, KidderminsterMonopolies are illegal in every other form of business – but on the trains that’s fine, let them charge us through the nose for pitiful services that don’t get better.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
