Robert Barry, Forest Gate, LondonRailways should be run as a public service, to complement other transport and logistics, not compete with them. Funding also needs to be protected from government whims.
Mike Taylor, SheffieldPeople should benefit, not corporations. Privatisation gives a poorer, more expensive option. No examples of improved service/cost-effectiveness with rail privatisation.
Edmund Preston, KinderIt’s long overdue. It’s time to admit mistakes. The French and Germans both have national rail systems as well as buying bits of ours.
David Fagan, LiverpoolI’m fed up with privatised rail and being forced to opt for the car too many times.
John Heap, WetherbyAll privatisations of publicly-owned infrastructure assets were driven by commercial interests and have not served the public well – an abdication of responsibility.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
