It is clear privatisation serves nobody but the shareholders. Fares should reflect the need to entice people out of their cars.

Michael Owens, WiganI recently travelled to Germany. The Deutsche Bahn was far cheaper, more efficient and of better quality. Their example of rail public ownership should be followed in the UK.

Great to see Liverpool City Region Combined Authority agree plans to take Merseyrail back into public ownership when the Serco/Transport UK contract ends in 2028 👏🚆 But there's still a big loophole in the #RailwaysBill meaning a future Mayor could easily re-privatise it 🤦♂️
