The railways should be run for the benefit of the nation, not for private profit.
Liz Annetts, DerbyWe need a unified nationalised railway.
Sue Sparks, LondonRail should be under unified public ownership, only more accountable than it was before to passengers and employees.
Tom Carr, Newcastle-upon-TyneThe railways are too much an important part of our infrastructure to trust to private companies – viz the GNER and National Express debacle on the East Coast mainline.
Andrea Stow, CleckheatonIt’s a better service when profit goes back into the service not shareholders’ pockets.
Mike Roberts, FavershamI want a railway that serves the public not its shareholders, with a fair, sensible and understandable ticketing system.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
