We started the railways in the NE of England. Let’s set a better example again in the future, including building trains here.
Philip Wallace, SwindonI would like to see the rail system under public ownership, with a promise of constant investment, and not left to run down.
Paul Gardener, WallaseyI left BR in 1995 after 18 years service, as I could see bad things happening because the changes that were made after privatisation (Potters Bar, Hatfield.)
Rob Hammond, BrightonPrivatisation and franchising has cost the taxpayer more than a publicly run service would, with no improvement in services.
Peter Elvin, GranthamRailways need to be nationalised. At the moment they are for the rich only.
Keith Gray, RothburyRailways, like the supply of water and power, should be seen as common goods, provided out of taxation and run for the benefit of all.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
