Paul Elmore, LondonRail is growing and the privateers are ripping us off. If private industry is so good why do they target the public sector?
Ian Cowmeadow, LondonThe privatisation of national infrastructure has a conflict of interest at its core. Private companies are obliged to maximise shareholder returns above all else.
Brian Hanchett, NorwichAt 70years old I have lived through both and it was better with no shareholders’ profits to worry about with all profits going to the Treasury to make our lives better.
Susanne Birks, SheffieldThe railways should be run as a public service and profits should be for improvements and reinvestment, not shareholders.
Roger Jacob, WrexhamIn 1948 the Government of the day had to nationalise the railways to keep them operating. That time has returned.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
