It’s long overdue.
Colin Flowerday, HoltBritish Railways ran a reliable, fast and reasonably priced train service. We want it back as these private companies are completely useless. Bring back British Rail.
James Abbott, WithamA railway owned by the public and run for the public – that is what we want.
Brian McCauley, ShorehamNo more.
Andrea Knight, BrightonMy dad was a train driver all his life before he died in 1987. He would hate the state of the privatised rail system if he could see it.
Nigel Parry, EdinburghThe rail service prices have rocketed up. Edinburgh – London used to be £80 in the 1990s. Better public transport is essential for the economy.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
