Re-nationalise or stop all subsidies. If the private sector is so great why do they need public money?
David Servant, PontefractA national, not-for-profit railway network, properly funded is the only way forward. The current system is unaccountable and a joke.
David Harney, BromleyTrains are too expensive. The railway is needed by everyone so should be kept cheap and not run as a private profit-making business.
Adrian Bryan, NorwichPrivatised rail companies are a joke. Prices have consistently risen above inflation and the service has not improved. It costs more for a return ticket for petrol.
John Heap, WetherbyAll privatisations of publicly-owned infrastructure assets were driven by commercial interests and have not served the public well – an abdication of responsibility.
Billie Reynolds, ReadingBritish Rail was a public asset which has been given to private companies to exploit to make profit. Bring it back into public ownership now.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
