I travel the rails a lot. East Coast mainline is by far the best in terms of service, ticket price, and customer care. It is owned by us and makes a surplus for us.
TOCs don’t make huge profits but train leasing (ROSCOs) is rip-off. Dictatorship of DfT mandarins equals slow progress and high fares. Devolve power to regions.
Make these companies run by the people and shared by the people.
Privatisation has never improved anything because fragmented systems are like a bunch of unrehearsed musicians playing without a conductor – disharmonious chaos!
East Coast is being run successfully, and I enjoy travelling with them and making a profit.

The buses and trains need to be put back in public hands we at the moment subsidies them ever since the Tories sold them of so how can you tell me that they are private companys
but as it doesn't affect them, they don't care
Has the government's decarbonisation policy hit fever point?
Privatizing has buggered up the electricity industry, the gas industry, the water industry and the waste disposal industry too. Some things should be considered a service and run to provide just that at an economic cost not a way of milking the end users.
