Juliette Burton, EdinburghI travel on the trains a lot. I spend as much on rent as I do on trains per month. Why do we spend so much for a greener way to travel? Look at Europe’s train prices.
John Casken, RothburyThe European example of a single, co-ordinated rail network puts ours to shame, apart from the excellent East Coast which should not be sold off to a private company.
Mike FriendPrivatisation benefited the very people who controlled the government that was in power at the time and we are now sadly seeing the results.
John Eaton, High PeakThe present system is much too complicated and wasteful, set up to make money for financial institutions etc., rather than to run an effective railway.
Dimitrios Tsierkezou, HertsIt’s called British Rail not private rail. It should belong to the British public for the benefit of the British public, not for private investors to increase fares..

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
