Enough profiteering, let’s get our social railway back and serve the people who really need it, as well as those who choose to.

Enough profiteering, let’s get our social railway back and serve the people who really need it, as well as those who choose to.
Curran McKay, LondonTransport, like healthcare and education, is a basic human right and it’s prime objective should be service not profit.
Zoe Horne, DorchesterWhy are there no standard fixed ticket prices. It’s exploitative.
Yvonne Weaver, DagenhamWhy doesn’t the government learn by their mistakes? Outsourcing does not always work. It’s all about the shareholders wanting big payouts. It’s time to say no more.
Naomi Bowen, BanburyAll my formative years from age 11 to age 18 were spent travelling smoothly to school daily via British Rail so naturally I’m in favour of this petition.
Ian Keeling, SheffieldHold these companies to the contracts they sign and, when they fail, don’t bail them out, but put the lines back into public ownership.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
