Aside from GNER, Anglia Railways and Chiltern, privatisation has done nothing for the discerning passenger.
Peter Collins, LondonRail is a natural monopoly and should be in the hands of the people through democratic government.
Cathy Green, HastingsNationalise, expand, reduce cost at point of use. Give our rail service back to the people.
Ryan Kendall, LancasterThere is no need for competition in railways. People will get whichever train arrives when they are at the station, not which is cheaper.
Naomi Bowen, BanburyAll my formative years from age 11 to age 18 were spent travelling smoothly to school daily via British Rail so naturally I’m in favour of this petition.
Keith Graham, CheltenhamI am utterly stunned at the appalling state of our rail network. This needs to be put right. I have stopped using trains and started using planes, which are cheaper.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
