The railways are a public service.
Mike Conley, KidlingtonPrivatisation of public utilities has been a colossal failure and has served only to enrich the already wealthy. Nationalise public utilities now.
David Oney, RhylIt’s a no-brainer – as the Americans say. Why should companies who are subsidised by us make huge profits from us?
Mike Blow, PlymouthFundamentally, public transport should be an enabling, democratising force for the people, not a competitive business venture run for the shareholders.
Wayne Bloomfield, DagenhamOver-priced fares, hardly any seats when I travel to and from London. Privatisation has become more of a joke than it did with British Rail. Bring back BR.
Jane Baghori, BristolBring it back please.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
