Lesley Mais, LeedsFor too long we have trusted private companies to improve essential services, and instead we are seeing few improvements but ever-increasing bills.
Cariad Thomas-Cooke, SheffieldAs an engineer, I think a national network can be run most effectively as a single national system, without a share of the profits having to go to private individuals.
Daniel McCarty, SunderlandWe need a centrally-planned, efficiently-run railway again, run for the benefit of the people, and no more foreign-run franchises or shambles electrification projects.
Nigel Holmes, HullThere is no logical reason not to return the railways to public ownership, run like a business, to keep tickets economical and benefit the travelling public.
Ben Byrne, StanleyA publicly-owned rail service is the only sensible option.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
