Thomas Marshall, OxfordI pay more and more extortionate amounts for an ever less reliable train service. How long must this continue before we admit that privatisation is a failure?
Alexander Cameron, EdinburghSort this mess out now with the only sensible option. Bring back British Rail.
Steve Blades, Newcastle-upon-TyneRailways are a vital part of a country’s infrastructure. The state-run East Coast service has been highly successful. The railways should be run for the people.
Nick Crago, HarlingtonLet’s see a return for trains being run as a customer service and not for private profit.
Richard Robinson, ScarboroughThe railways are subsidised, yet profit is made. Surely our public services should be no-for-profit?

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
