Julia Logie, HeathfieldPrivatisation of the rail network has devastated this country. I think the entire infrastructure of the UK is falling apart bit by bit. It’s very sad to see this happening…
Clive Gehle, LondonAs commuters we get no advantages from private companies running trains (badly). Labour should commit to the re-nationalisation of the railways as they had the vision in 1948.
A M Legg, LondonWhat was achieved by putting in a level of bonus-blaggers and throwing money at Branson?
Stephen NaylorAfter once again seeing train fares rise, and consistently poor, unreliable service, we can’t take it any more. We can barely afford getting to work or eat in the same month.
Angela Hathaway, StroudRobbed from the people by Conservatives.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.

They know they'll only be in for one session
Get it done, then the Water Company's.
There's no bloody need to buy them out now they all return to public ownership on December 1st and the freight contracts are due for renewal on January 1st 2025 either way. If they wait 6 months it won't cost them a penny except rebranding costs. The NHS actually needs that money for ambulance service training at the moment. It's bloody pointless plus the department of transport had set it up to get all back into public ownership by January 30th 2025 anyway.

Almost 15 years ago exactly we launched our campaign for a re-unified national rail network run for people not profit🚆 The Labour Party's King's Speech finally announces legislation which we hope will make this a reality as #GreatBritishRailways 👏 What a historic day!Bring Back British Rail protest 2011 (Photo: Robin Prime) bringbackbritishrail.org ... and please make it affordable for everyone, not just someone on business expenses
Now we need to bring back the lines that were closed in the 50s-80s when the population and the economy was much smaller.
Privatisation has failed. The railways have been in a bureaucratic mess. Whoever thinks this, he said that I was no closer to correcting him that the Big 4 was a success and BR was a failure. But by reading JK Lewis' acclaimed book about The Western's Hydraulics, it would tell us that they were actually run by the same people including some pre-grouping apprentices but it wasn't an entirely perfect arrangement.

Congratulations to Louise Haigh MP on your appointment as Transport Secretary 👏 We hope work is now progressing to take the remaining private TOCs back into public ownership when their contracts end 🚆 We look forward to a re-unified #greatbritishrailways run for people not profit. We’re delighted to see The Labour Party commit to plans to bring our railways back into public ownership within the next parliamentary term 👏 With all the Department for Transport's current contracts with private operators set to expire by 2027, they would be mad not to 🚆 bringbackbritishrail.org/news ... Repel the Draconian and outdated Dickensian Anti-TU laws afflicted on the movement by the Tories. That is a fundamental part of TU Labour relations!
i cannot believe for the second time in history, a Southern Railway and a Great Western Railway will become part of a British Railways..... its that nickel meme all over again...
I hope it happens and please look after the retired members of staff who were not protected

Labour should commit to renationalising the whole system.
who takes over ! most TOCs are on a simple management contract now , little will change
With such a strong majority the Labour government could bring TOCs under the Operator Of Last Resort umbrella as franchises come up for renewal and eventually we would effectively a renationalised rail network. It couldn't be worse than the half baked privatised rail company I worked for for 23 years changing its name and uniform every three to five years with no improvement for anyone
