Transport is part of our mobility infrastructure. Not a profit opportunity.
Sue Griffiths, Newcastle-upon-TyneOur internal transport system, our water, our energy supply, and services for children and vulnerable adults should not be run by corporations to make vast profits.
David Alan Clark, GlasgowScotRail have poor services, trains are often late or cancelled, a wheelchair user not allowed to board the train because of space issues when there were only two carriages.
Stella Hawkins, HounslowNot even Thatcher was crazy enough to privatise the railways.
David Otterson, BillinghamUK railways are years behind most developed countries. There is little incentive for investment in the current fragmented set-up with relatively short franchises.
Keith Robertson, MaldonIt doesn’t work at the moment, as all we are doing as travellers is lining the pockets of the shareholders – so let’s go back to paying for our own railway. What better idea?

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
