Privatisation’s been a disaster in terms of the costs of achieving improvements to the railway.
Nicholas Allen, YorkThe railways should be owned by the British Government, not the French and German Governments, nor the private sector, for the benefit of shareholders, not passengers.
Diana SalmonLet’s hear it for common sense.
Peter Brookings, Milton KeynesRailways should be run as a public service, not for shareholder profit. Get freight off the roads and back on the railway.
Alistair Redman-Bayasi, SheffieldIf we get British Rail back, can we have it red please?
Paul Bright, BournemouthBringing back great British Rail would be great for UK business. Privatisation is a disaster. It’s time for our trains to come back.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
