John Cant, EdinburghOur railways are a huge national asset and should be run to minimise road and air use and promote other social and environmental benefits, not run for profit.
Jean Scott, BristolSixty years ago I travelled by train in my city. We had no cars. Bristol was more beautiful pleasant city – no clogging traffic. Give us back rail networks and fair fares.
Barry Freeman, ShaftesburyPlough the income back into the nationalised railways – not into private profiteers’ pockets.
John Jones, BreconI cannot understand why there are only circa 26,000 signatures given the massive support for this campaign.
Mary Lennon, ManchesterMy uncle and grand-dad both worked as signalmen on British Rail – so in their memories I’m signing the petition. My uncle said privatisation was the worst thing that ever happened.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
