I’m not a regular user of trains but believe profits better spent on rail infrastructure than high executive wages and company profits.
Bring back British Rail, so the profits go back into the system, and not into somebody’s pocket. We had a great service from Norwich to London Liverpool St. before.
People not profit.
Under this regime there isn’t any real competition. Let the train companies have to maintain their own permanent way etc. Profits?
Why are the German, French and Dutch state railways allowed to run our railways, yet our own Direct Rail (BR) state railway cannot. It’s crazy.

Privatizing has buggered up the electricity industry, the gas industry, the water industry and the waste disposal industry too. Some things should be considered a service and run to provide just that at an economic cost not a way of milking the end users.
Has the government's decarbonisation policy hit fever point?
