Public services are services to the public not for private profit.
Current rail transport is complex, profit-driven, with safety loopholes. It should be replaced by a sustainable service offering an alternative to car travel.
British Rail was cheaper for taxpayers and for passengers than the current privatised system.
Bring back the glorious days of BR.
I fully agree. Overpriced and complicated. It costs more to go to London than it does to fly to Spain. Profit of BR goes back into the country and not into private hands.

Privatizing has buggered up the electricity industry, the gas industry, the water industry and the waste disposal industry too. Some things should be considered a service and run to provide just that at an economic cost not a way of milking the end users.
