Bring back British Rail. It makes economic and ecological sense.
Mark Lauri, ReadingAll profits should go back into the railway not into private investors’ pockets. Railways should be subsidised and for the people not the wealthy.
Alex Marshall, BridgendPrivatising the railways has been a disaster that’s cost the British public dear and put lots of much needed dosh into the hands of profiteers.
Jean Scott, BristolSixty years ago I travelled by train in my city. We had no cars. Bristol was more beautiful pleasant city – no clogging traffic. Give us back rail networks and fair fares.
Stuart Butler, LondonTfL is often held up as an example of good service. East Coast made the government money when it was DfT- run. How this doesn’t make sense is beyond me.
Andrew Eglon, ChristchurchThe government keeps banging on at us to use public transport, car share etc. yet they hike the prices up making it merely impossible for people to use it.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
