Judy Sleath, NottinghamI would like to travel on trains but they’re just too expensive. Surely, if fares were cheaper and services joined up, more people would buy tickets.
Peter Robinson, LondonPresumably if re-nationalised compensation would not be payable if the government awarded new franchises to British Rail.
Chris Donnelly, LondonThe situation is farcical. Huge amounts of money lining fat cat pockets which could be reinvested to create a system less embarrassing. No excuse for no automation.
Rose Chaney, BridportThe rail system is not working for travellers but shareholders and higher management are still making plenty of money. Our railways need to change.
Rob Cross, ShrewsburyLet’s re-nationalise all these privately-run utilities so the shareholders receiving the dividends are the real shareholders, i.e. the general public.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
