Privatisation of the railways has proved to be as ridiculous and impracticable a notion as it always appeared. It’s time to go back to common sense.

  • Britain’s railway system is in no-man’s-land comprising the worst of both worlds, and is thus unfit for purpose.

  • Since privatisation, fares have increased on a ridiculous level, and not enough is spent on maintenance. Public ownership will mean the ability to drive fares back down.

    Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
    The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
    It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
