The railways, being a huge part of the transport infrastructure in the UK, should be run for the people as a non profit making organisation.
I generally moan the loss of our National Railway owned and run by us and not the French or German franchises. Lets pay the right price for travel not subsidising others.
I am the same age as BR. The money given to run BR was little compared with subsidies to private companies now.
Rail reform is economic reform for the UK.
Abellio is a publicly-owned Dutch company. Northern Rail should be publicly-owned by the British people for those using and working on the line.

The buses and trains need to be put back in public hands we at the moment subsidies them ever since the Tories sold them of so how can you tell me that they are private companys

Privatizing has buggered up the electricity industry, the gas industry, the water industry and the waste disposal industry too. Some things should be considered a service and run to provide just that at an economic cost not a way of milking the end users.
