It really should be a national service that is not for private profit.
Christopher Morton, DurhamI am not a believer in nationalisation unless it is an obvious choice. How else can a population which is now so diverse move across the country without cars?
Dee Drake, LiverpoolAll utilities should be in public ownership – transport, fuel, water.
Clive Ford, HoveA shameful service that gives no consideration to the people who use it or the people who work for it.
Brian Hoey, Houghton-le-SpringI couldn’t agree more. Rail is an essential service that should not be run for private profit and should definitely not be run badly.
Richard Jarvis, LeicesterTrain fares are just too high. I work for a charity and year-on-year increases in ticket prices wipe out any salary increase I receive.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
