It’s a no-brainer to all, apart from those that seek to make profit and cut jobs in the process and the politicians that look after their interests.
Bernard Freudenthal, LondonRail privatisation has been a gravy train for incompetent private companies. The chaos of it is staggering. Other national railways are walking off with profits from us.
Alister McNeish, ReadingLet’s have the profit for the nation – it should cut the deficit a bit.
Sarah Walton, LeedsTransport is too important to this country to leave it to a market which cannot operate proper competition as, by definition, most routes are going to be a monopoly.
Stuart Jessiman, WallingfordTo stand on Great Western service from Reading to Paddington during the rush hour crushed in like sardines, knowing GW are making a profit from this is scandalous.
Vanessa Bowen, HarrogateI believe that railways should be run for the people and not for private profit. This is such an important service and decisions should be made in the interests of the public.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
