Cancel that ridiculous super-train project – wrong thinking.
Patricia Macnair, GlasgowI am very happy to back this. Having travelled on German and Austrian trains this autumn, I am aware of the shortcomings in the British system.
David Hurst, Newcastle-upon-TyneNow Thatcher has gone, it’s time we erased the odious Me! Me! Me! legacy she and her minions left behind and saw the return of services run for people, not profit.
Leanne Green, HydeLet’s bring back British Rail and lower prices for tickets, as private companies are charging way too much to travel to places.
Kirk Martin, LondonWhy are our train operating companies now owned by bus companies and French and German state railways – not our Government?
Jacob Rothman, Llandrindod WellsIn the 1980s British Rail had about 5 managers on high CEO salaries. The private railways now have 150.

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
