Patrick Fenlon, ChesterThey neglected repairs to make massive profits and then put the prices up. Most people stopped using them because of the price. Lower prices get more customers.
Jolyon Bailey, LondonI see rail transportation as a public service, mainly to transport workers in order for our economy to function efficiently. The system is a mess.
Thomas Laxton, SheffieldWhy should it cost so much more for me to travel by rail than car? Why should the taxpayer be subsidising the profits of a private company?
Karen Donnelly, BradfordThey should never have been privatised. It’s been a disaster from the first. It’s about time service, maintenance and customers were put first.
Denis Tweedy, Newcastle-upon-TyneWe bitched about the sandwiches at the time but my goodness do we miss a fully integrated affordable system?

Bring Back British Rail is coordinated from Glasgow by Ellie Harrison, with the help of a small network of volunteers around the UK.
The campaign operates as a ‘non-charitable campaigning body’ and so is free to carry out political activity and act as a pressure group.
It aims to be a completely autonomous and transparent passenger-led organisation, which has no direct affiliation with any political parties.
