Campaign against CrossCountry (Arriva)

Arriva UK Trains, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s national state-owned rail operator, has operated the CrossCountry franchise since November 2007. The franchise was originally due to conclude in March 2016; however, owing to the shambolic state of the Department for Transport’s refranchising plans, Arriva was directly awarded an extension to its franchise, which was intended to end in December 2019. Two further extensions pushed the end date back, first to October 2020 and then to October 2023. Arriva also operates the Chiltern Railways contract, as well as London Overground.

• Do you use the CrossCountry service regularly?
• Do you believe it should be returned to public hands as part of a re-unified national rail network run for people not profit?
• Then, why not start a campaign building up to the franchise end?

Bring Back British Rail will support you by promoting your campaign’s details on this website and putting you in touch with other local activists via our Facebook, Twitter and Riseup communities. Please get in touch on the email address below!
